COMPLETE 1:30 AM: Well, it takes longer than I calculated to transfer the full Tabroom database, but the machine is now fully upgraded which means the service is up and ready again.

[Resolved] Tabroom database got rebooted under us

Our service provider rebooted our database server underpinning Tabroom.com without much warning at 3:30 AM last night, and it did not recover fully leading to a site downtime.

Palmer confesses he did not see this downtime right away because it is the day after Nationals. And so, he was sleeping in. But he is also grateful if this had to happen, it did so the day after Nationals.

Since the database had been down most of the day anyway, and the season ended Friday, Palmer took the opportunity to perform some small upgrades and routine maintenance operations that required further very short restarts. Hopefully these upgrades will avoid another downtime maintenance window later on.

Those tasks are now concluded. We are now going to express some emotions and opinions to our service provider about this event.

Investigating - A few tournaments have reported that Tabroom email blasts are continuously sending to users. Our developers are working to resolve this issue. The best way to prevent the issue from occurring is by avoiding schedule-blasting round pairings. Tournament administrators can interrupt the blast cycle by sending a message-only blast from the pairing that is being repeat blasted. Investigating -

We are investigating an issue that may impact auto-pointing from Tabroom.com. Some users are reporting that students on their Tabroom.com roster are becoming unlinked from their NSDA accounts, preventing points from auto-posting.

To prevent this issue from impacting your school, we recommend re-linking your Tabroom.com roster to the NSDA before the end of the tournament your students are attending. To do so, navigate to the Competitors tab in Tabroom and select the “Connect Competitors to NSDA Memberships” button.

If you notice after a tournament that some of your students did not receive auto-points, email us at help@tabroom.com, and we can help re-link your school’s roster and re-post points.

We are transferring the NSDA’s computing infrastructure this morning, which will cause some down time for the NSDA website and Tabroom.com. Users will be unable to log in to either site until the data transfer is complete. Expected completion time is around 12:00 p.m. CT.

Due to some intermittent hardware failures, we had a scheduled downtime window on the morning of Tuesday Jan 10th starting at 10AM CST to route around some failed equipment. Downtime lasted around 30 minutes.

This briefly affected all NSDA services, including Tabroom, the NSDA website and points/account system, and NSDA Campus.

The network device that connects our servers to the internet is causing networking failures. You may have noticed that the NSDA website and Tabroom.com have gone down for short periods of time lately, and we have been implementing temporary fixes as they happen. However, networking failures are starting to grow more frequent and lengthier. We will be taking more drastic action this morning to get to a permanent resolution. As a result, you may see the NSDA website, Tabroom.com, and the caselist go down for a longer period of time this morning. We will update this site when we are done! Thank you for your patience,

[Resolved] Tabroom Emails Going Straight to Spam

11/18/21 Update - We have taken steps to mitigate the impact of this issue on users; many will notice that they are now receiving emails directly to their inbox. Users who were previously seeing Tabroom.com emails show up in their spam folder are encouraged to report those Tabroom emails as “not spam”, and the issue should be resolved moving forward.

11/16/21 Investigating - Emails are sending from Tabroom.com, but are being sent to spam folders for some email clients, including Gmail. All emails sent from Tabroom.com, including those from tournament directors to attendees, as well as emails with pairings and judge assignments, are being sent to spam folders. To access these emails, please instruct your tournament participants to check their spam folder regularly.

We are actively investigating possible solutions, but reversing the root cause of this error is out of our control at this time because Google and other email providers have flagged Tabroom.com email servers as spam. No other Tabroom.com features are impacted by this issue. As a temporary solution, we suggest tournament directors use potential work-arounds. We are sorry for any inconvenience this may cause you and appreciate your patience. This post will be updated once we have more information.

For Information Sharing

Use a public Google document - Create a “live document” with your tournament updates and information. Share with coaches via your personal email and/or on the homepage for your tournament.
Email Coaches Directly - To receive a list of coach emails, navigate to Entries > Reports > Contact List in your tournament.
Update Your Tournament Homepage - To edit your tournament’s homepage, go to Settings > Website > in the right sidebar there is a list of pages, select Main Page - this your homepage. From here, you will be able to edit and update your tournament homepage with the information you would have included in email.
Use Text Blasts - Remember that you can text blast judges and competitors from the schematic by clicking “Blast Emails & Texts”.

Direct Participants to Your Tournament’s Homepage

In your tournament, go Settings > Tournament and copy the public URL listed. Send this URL to your tournament participants.
